Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire
Describe the clinical manifestations, etiology, epidemiology, risk factors, natural history, diagnosis, staging, prognostic indicators and management of the major diseases of the nervous system, with emphasis on those most commonly encountered in the clinical practice. Identify the major diagnostic and therapeutic options for each encountered clinical scenario, and discuss their benefits and limitations. Summarize decision-making algorithms for a correct differential diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment choice. Present and critically analyze clinical cases, discuss the differential diagnosis, and formulate appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for each case (Problem-Based Learning).

Metodi didattici
Interactive lectures where general rules are derived from practical examples taken from everyday experience. Teaching materials and slides are made available to the students via the moodle platform at least the day before the lesson. During the lessons, it is important for students to have direct access (online or off-line) to the teaching materials in order to be able to concentrate on specific contents rather than on reproducing slides.
Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento
The final exam will be an oral assessment to verify the achievement of objectives (critical thinking, knowledge of topics) within the integrated course of Neurological, Psychiatric Diseases and Pain (I.C.).
The assessment regarding "NEUROLOGY" will be mainly focused on topics covered in class.
The I.C. will be divided in 2 modules.
Module A (Neuroradiology, In vivo Neurometabolic Diagnostics, Neuropsycopharmacology, Neuropathology, Anaesthesiology and Pain Management; total 5 CFU):
- 16.01.23
- 13.02.23
- 13.03.23
- 12.06.23
- 17.07.23
- 18.09.23
Module B (Neurology, Psychiatry, Clinical Psycology, Neurosurgery; total 10 CFU):
- 19.01.23
- 16.02.23
- 16.03.23
- 15.06.23
- 20.07.23
- 21.09.23
Exam sessions to be held at 3:00 p.m in the afternoon
FINAL GRADES:
To pass the exam, you will need to reach at least the pass-mark (18/30) in all the subjects of examination pertaining to each module of the I.C.; the final grade will be the marks weighted average. Cum laude will be considered when obtained in at least three examination's subjects with a full score (30/30) in the others. Registration of the examination grades will occur during the Thursday session. The student will be able to accept or decline the final grades. If a student did not pass any modules, he/she would be able to sustain again only the exam of the failed modules (maintaining the grades obtained in the others), as long as this occurred within the same academic year.
Strumenti a supporto della didattica
Students are encouraged to attend the lectures with a printout of the relevant file downloaded from moodle or bringing electronic devices to access the relevant material during the lecture. This will allow easier interaction with the teacher when asked to discuss a problem.
