  • Corso: Laurea Magistrale in Offshore engineering (cod. 9249)

Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

The aim of the course is to provide the student with basic knowledge of the themodynamic basic concepts relevant in offshore energy production processes.

Contenuti

- Brief introduction to mass and anergy balance for  the description of complex systems.

- The first principle of thermodynamic and the energy balance. definition of the internal energy and Enthalpy for the description of the thermodynamic state of a systems.

- Application of the energy balance to describe simple chemical and mechanical processes; the use of thermodynamic data for the calculation of Enthalpy and energy differences.

- Introduction to the second principle of thermodynamic and to the idea of chemical equilibrium. Entropy and Gibbs or Helmholtz freee energy to describe the state of equilibrium of a system.

- L-V equilibrium for pure components; derivation of the Clausius Clapeyron equation and its uses as a further information to solve thermodynamic problem.

- Chemical reactions equilibrium; derivation of main relationships and application to simple systems.
