Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will have acquired the basic elements to understand the innovative value of the cooperative model and be aware of the values that characterise it and distinguish it from other types of enterprise. They will also be able to arrive at a project hypothesis that can be translated into a cooperative development project and, working in groups, experience first-hand the values of sustainability, economic democracy, participation and the valorisation of human capital that characterise cooperatives. At the end of the course the student will also have acquired knowledge about the regional, national and international cooperative network, the sectors with the greatest potential for development and innovation and the employment opportunities in the Romagna region.

Course contents

1 Course presentation. The otherness of the cooperative enterprise: finalism, governance structure and accountability.
2. The cooperative as an enterprise: the conditions of economic viability.
3. The principles that characterize the cooperative model: mutuality, solidarity and democraticity.
4. Management and accountability in the cooperative enterprise: management control and business performance measurement.
5. Presentation of cooperative cases: agribusiness, multiservice, social.
6.PROJECT WORK creation of groups, launching of challenges, idea generation, idea choice.
7. Final event: presentation of project works.

Project work as an outcome of the course and workshop on challenges proposed during the course or on a theme chosen by the students.
