Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has the knowledge and the ability to understand the objectives reachable through rehabilitation and to learn the tools to achieve them, knowing how to design and execute targeted interventions at satisfying the needs of the person with neurolesion. He also knows and recognize the main clinical features, which lists the rehabilitation treatment.
Course contents
Motion control and functional synergies: historical evolution of assumptions about motion control, the concept of synergy and coordinative structure, alteration of the synergies after neurolesion, primary and secondary components of changes in the movement after neurolesion.
Recovery processes after neurolesion: ischemic traumatic, demyelinating injury,. Area of ischemic penumbra, sprouting, plasticity, remyelination. Lesional momentum. Biological factors and environmental factors.
Motor learning after neurolesion: hypothesis about motor learning, motor learning factors, stages of motor learning, intrinsic and extrinsic feedback.
Postural coordination disturbances: the example in Multiple Sclerosis.
Disorders of locomotion: the example of Stroke.
dystonic hypertonia and vigilance disorders: the example of Severe Acquired brain injury.
Spastic hypertonia: the example of Mielolesion.
