Academic Year 2018/2019

  • Docente: Raffaella Sacchetti
  • Credits: 2
  • SSD: ICAR/14
  • Language: Italian
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Cesena
  • Corso: Single cycle degree programme (LMCU) in Architecture (cod. 0881)

Learning outcomes

The course proposes an exploration of theories about space, starting from the analysis of perceptual elements and formal relationships that intercept the basic elements of the architectural construction. The student is required to face the aspects of the project closely related to spatial definition, the relationship with the site and with issues of the tradition.

Course contents

The course of Architectural Space Theories (2 CFU) is a part of the Graduate Laboratory (I.C. 16 CFU) "Maximum city minimum dwellings".

The issues of the course is articulated according to a path that gradually leads from the abstract dimension of the formal construction to the physical size of urban space.
The studies in this area aim to define the relationships between public and private space through the analysis of the relationships between built and void.
The path starts from the geometrical features that identify the void as a space available in a balance made by opposite forces.
From the formal construction to the in-between spaces that are placed in the urban fabric highlighting its structure, texture and rhythm, the goal is to arrive at the measurement of the voids that identify the places and are characterized by architecture.

Teaching methods

The didactic program will take place through frontal lessons focused on the relationship between void and built, between form and formal features.

Assessment methods

The final examination of the Graduate Laboratory (eligibility) includes the verification of the learning contents of all courses that composed the integrated Laboratory and takes place in a single exam.

Teaching tools

Frontal lessons through slide projection, audio - video playback.
