Learning outcomes
To complete the knowledge acquired in Urban Hydraulic Systems M with the achievement of university formative credits, the student develops two projects related to the design of a water distribution network and an urban drainage system.
Course contents
A prior knowledge and understanding of hydraulics and of Urban Hydraulic System M is required to attend with profit this course.
In the course will be analyzed freeware calculation tools used for the
Design of a water distribution system.
Through the use of EPANET software the student is guided in the design of a water distribution system of an urban area. Will be analyzed aspects of the water quality and water losses. The project will be accompanied by a technical report and drawings (plans, sections and construction details).
Design of a sewer system.
Through the use of SWMM software the student is guided in the design of a sewer system of an urban area. Will be analyzed and designed structure like detention ponds, first foul tanks and pumping stations. The project will be accompanied by a technical report and drawings (plans, sections and construction details).

Teaching methods
Lectures and practice.
Assessment methods
The learning assessment aims verifying the achievement of learning objectives, in particular the basic concepts for the modelling and design of water supply systems and sewer systems. The assessment method consists of a final oral test with the discussion of the projects.
To obtain a passing grade, students are required to at least demonstrate a knowledge of the key concepts of the subject and in particular the design criteria adopted for dimensioning hydraulic systems. A failing grade will be awarded if the student shows knowledge gaps in key-concepts of the subject.
