Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

The course aims at providing the students with the necessary knowledge and tools to assess renewable energy potential; to identify technological challenges of renewable energy for market exploitation and to compare alternative renewable energy systems. Students will be able to acquire know-how on the energy converters and their installation to produce energy from the sea; to develop an environmental impact assessment of these installations; to conceptually design multi-purpose off-shore installation in marine platforms and near-shore installations in harbors; to develop criteria for the selection of the optimal site for a given installation or for the optimal single or multi-purpose installation for a given site.

  1. Energy and the environment: seeking sustainability
  2. Established renewable energy systems: wind and hydropower
  3. Established renewable energy systems: solar energy
  4. Conventional energy systems: transition to renewable energy
  5. Energy policy: instruments for change
  6. Regional and global energy policy: comparative policy assessment
  7. Energy supply security: the role of renewable energy
  8. Energy futures: integrated systems
