RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Post Doc Fellowship (Mar 2024-Today)
University of Bologna (Bologna, IT)
Molecular Biotechnology Lab-Prof. Danielli A.
Molecular engeneering of M13 phage for anti-cancer, anti-bacteria and biosensors applications: I was involved in the development of a modular M13 phage-based platform for targeted cancer therapy. I was in charge of molecular biology techniques for phage engineering, in vitro testing in 2D and 3D tumor cell models, and in vivo studies in mouse models.
Post Doc Fellowship (Jan 2023-Feb 2024)
EMBL (Grenoble, FR)
Marcia’s Group
Targeting the splicing site with small molecule modulators: in this project, I investigated self-splicing introns and spliceosome function using cellular models to study the effects of novel small molecule inhibitors. I performed all in vitro assays to evaluate splicing inhibition and mechanistic effects on cellular processes and used cryo-EM to resolve the structure of our rybozyme to study its interaction with the small molecule.
PhD student (Nov 2019-Jun 2023)
Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (Genova, IT)
Molecular modelling and drug discovery group - Dr. Marco De Vivo
Characterization of function and inhibition of DNA Polymerase ƞ (Polƞ) in cancer: in this project I set up the purification protocol of Polƞ and I characterised the enzyme using various techniques. In collaboration with the medicinal chemists of the group, we build a SAR to find the best inhibitor for Polƞ through enzymatic and cell viability assay.
