Implementation of actions aimed at promoting the effective adoption of a language that respects but does not negate gender differences

  • In 2021, the CUG published the "Guidelines to promote equal opportunities and gender balance at events and in the composition of the work groups and committees of the University of Bologna". The document, which was prepared with the help of the Vice-Rector for Human Resources and the Equal Opportunities Officer, seeks to promote a merit-based system that values diversity and ensures the adequate visibility of all members of the university community in terms of participation in scientific and third mission activities organised by the University of Bologna, in scientific committees and in other events in which the University participates as a sponsoring institution.

Collaboration on the surveys conducted by the University of its personnel

Promotion of dialogue and the exchange of ideas related to the topic of work-life balance

The Committee received various requests by email for support, assistance and advice from University colleagues. Acting within its sphere of responsibility, although not intervening in specific cases, from time to time it listened and gave advice on how to contact the competent figures and bodies (e.g., Confidential Counsellor, Occupational Physician, Head of the Personnel Division, Vice-Rector for Human Resources). In line with its strategy of preventing any discrimination, the CUG also considered the reports as sentinel events or mechanisms to be verified, analysing them in a broader perspective aimed at planning and implementing positive actions that will benefit the entire University.

The CUG has encouraged dialogue and the exchange of ideas with the University figures and structures that are working towards equal opportunities, occupational well-being and work-life balance, aimed at the formulation of specific proposals.
