Student elections: take part, choose, change

The Student Council is the body that represents the student population within the University. It has a three-year term and is composed of 33 members.

Its main task is to express opinions on all matters concerning the interests of students, bringing their needs, proposals and priorities to the attention of the University. In this way, it contributes to decisions that affect University life, services and the quality of the study experience.

The Board also designates its representatives on the Academic Senate and on the Board of Governors.

The Student Council elections took place on May 14 and 15, 2025.
It is not currently possible to submit a candidacy.

The Department Board is the body that defines and coordinates the main activities of the Department. It is responsible for approving the development guidelines and strategic decisions on teaching, research and third mission, as well as deciding on the organisation, resources and initiatives of the Department.

On the website of each Department you will find the student representatives and other information on each Board.

When to stand for election

To stand for election, you must:

1. be eligible to vote to elect representatives in the body you are standing for election to;
2. be duly enrolled (no more than one year past the exam schedule) at the time of standing;

Remember:

• you may submit your candidacy on only one list for each body in which you have the right to vote. You can check the list of bodies for which calls for applications have been issued, which you will find among the annexes.
• you may not support your candidacy or the list in which your candidacy is included.
• you must accept your candidacy, as entered in the procedure for you by those who formed or submitted your list.

You can submit your candidacy from 11:00am on 9 March 2026 to 11:00am on 26 March 2026. 

How to submit a candidacy or a list

You can submit your individual (for representatives of PhD Programmes and Specialisation schools) candidacy or list online via the online Candidacy Procedure service.

Individual candidacy (for representatives of PhD Programmes and Specialisation schools)

To stand for election, you must:

1. be eligible to vote to elect representatives in the body you are standing for election to;
2. be duly enrolled at the time of standing;

You can submit your candidacy via the online procedure, ensuring that you publish the candidacy and do not leave it in draft status, otherwise it will not be visible.

Opening a list (for representatives of First Cycle Degree Programmes and Second Cycle Degree Programmes)

If you want to start a list for a body for which you have voting rights:

1. access the online service Candidacy Procedure;
2. select the body for which you are submitting the list: you may submit the list only for the bodies for which you have voting rights. You can check the list of bodies for which calls for applications have been issued, which you will find among the annexes. Otherwise, you must appoint a person with voting rights for that body;
3. create the list;
4. enter one or more names of individuals (surname, name and date of birth or registration number and date of birth) who you already know will join the list as candidates;
5. complete the list submission phase: as long as the list remains in draft status, it is not visible and cannot be signed. To complete the submission phase, the following is required:
1. at least one invited person has accepted;
2. all persons invited to apply have accepted or declined the invitation via the online service Candidacy Procedure.

If there are still invited persons pending acceptance, you can delete those still pending and submit the list without them, or wait for their response. 

Who represents the lists

If you have submitted a list, you may designate one list representative.

If you have submitted a list, you can promote your election campaign to publicise the programme, present the proposals and engage with students.

You can:

• request a stand in a University building or outdoor area (in Bologna, Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna or Rimini) 
• book a University lecture hall or space to organise electoral assemblies and discussions: access the usual student booking link, making sure to add the words “election meeting” to the event title.

The following will be elected to the Department Board:

• student representatives from among those enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes relating to the Department. 
  They are elected by a proportional system based on opposing lists, i.e. candidates stand on lists (not individually). During the vote, you choose a list (and, if applicable, you can also express preferences for one or more candidates on the list); available seats are then distributed in proportion to the votes obtained by each list.
• student representatives among those enrolled in PhD programmes and Specialisation schools relating to the Department.
  They are elected through individual candidacies.

Who can vote

Students who are duly enrolled in a degree programme for the 2025-26 academic year are entitled to vote.

The list of voters will be available from 12 March 2026.

How to vote

To vote:

1. access the online service using your institutional credentials
2. vote on the electronic ballot, selecting lists and possibly candidates;
3. click on the "Insert into ballot box" command.

After the voting period has ended, the platform will not allow any new access. Those who logged in before closing can complete the voting operations within the next 10 minutes. Once this deadline has also passed, no further operations will be possible.

Election days

• 15 April from 9:00am to 6:00pm
• 16 April from 9:00am to 2:00pm

The Degree Programme Board is the body responsible for coordinating and managing the degree programme or second cycle degree programme. It deals with decisions closest to the Degree Programme, such as study plans, credit recognition, graduation procedures, graduation sessions and teaching calendars, taking students' needs into account.
