Learning outcomes
The aim of the seminar is to give students the basic
theoreticals tools needed to understand the role played by
macroeconomic policies in an open economy . On completing the course student should be able
to use the basic macroeconomic models to analyze:
a) the effects on the home economy of domestic and foreign
policies.
b) the costs and benefits of monetary unions and the
Euro experience.
Course contents
Sustainability of government finances.
The eurozone crisis.
ECB: objectives, instruments and strategies.
Monetary policy and the debt crisis.
Readings/Bibliography
Detailed readings will be given during lectures and published on
web site of prof. Salituro.
Teaching methods
Front lectures.
Assessment methods
Attendance to lectures is sufficient condition to qualify. Signatures will be collected at the end of each lecture. For students who do not attend lectures there will be a written exam consisting in two open questions on arguments discussed in the seminar and published on the website of prof. Salituro.
