Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will be able to address selected frontier issues and open questions in the field of animal science, circular economy, safety of foods of animal origin, and animal breeding and genetics. The student will be able to critically assess current issues, trends and advancements in relation to the presented topics starting from concrete case studies, and will have an updated knowledge on the most recent perspectives in those fields.

Course contents

During the course, the student will follow different seminars given by national and international speakers on innovative topics and/or innovative approaches in four different thematic areas related to subjects addressed during the previous semesters, in particular related to animal breeding, precision livestock farming, food safety and hygiene, and circular agroeconomy. The seminars will include practical activities and on-field visits.

Readings/Bibliography

The material proposed in each thematic area, including presentations and scientific papers, will be available to students in the platform VIRTUALE (https://virtuale.unibo.it/).

Teaching methods

Each thematic area will be exploited in 16 hours of seminars with active involvement of the auditors, consisting of practical activities and discussions on frontiers issues.

Assessment methods

At the end of each thematic area, a quiz with 10 multiple choice questions will be given to participants. The final exam will be passed if at least 21 right answers are provided by the participant.

Teaching tools

Seminars will be given in the classroom using PowerPoint presentations, RStudio, videoprojectors and Microsoft Teams.
