Learning outcomes

At the end of the workshop the student: knows the evolution of palliative care and specific legislation; knows the fundamentals of the organization of palliative care services and the complex needs of the patient with oncological and non-oncological pathology and his family; knows the role and skills of social work in palliative care.

Course contents

The seminars organized within the course will address: the legitimation of the social worker in palliative care; The culture of palliative care; The ethical aspects of the social worker profession; The methodological aspects (use of the interview, team work, network, community work); Comparing experiences.

Lectures with in-depth study of case studies and practical exercises.

Assessment methods

Credits will be recognized when the following conditions are met:

1) Attendance of the seminar meetings (6) (there will be an attendance check for each lesson).

2) The final examination consists of writing a paper to be sent by email to the teacher at the latest 10 days before the date of the examination:


- the topic is of the student's choice and can be communicated and discussed via email with the teacher;

- the paper must have a maximum length of 15000 characters including spaces.
