Learning outcomes

The models that have historically characterized the body culture, ideas and manifestations of sport are closely linked. The course aims to introduce to the student the most significant contributions on which the cultures of the body have developed and how these have influenced physical and aesthetic education, sport and ideas of well-being. On the other, the history of sport as a phenomenon of great political and cultural importance from the nineteenth century to the present, in relation also to issues of social emancipation.

  • Body culture in the western world.
  • Art and body representation.
  • models of pedagogy of the body.

 

  • Birth of the modern concept of sport and its evolution.
  • Politics, ideology and sport.
  • The sports phenomenon in the development of contemporary society.

Texts and bibliographical proposals will be indicated at the beginning of the course.

Teaching methods

Lectures, working group.

Assessment methods

The student proposes a topic among the themes of the course and develops it in a written report.
