Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows the fundamental aspects of technology applied to financial services and institutions. He is also able to apply these novel technologies in the rapidly changing financial sector in production, distribution and organization processes, having studied the following topics: • elements of parallel and distributed computing • main methods of data acquisition, storage and analysis • blockchain and distributed ledger (smart contracts) • crypocurrencies • cybersecurity and data protection (GDPR compliance) • main software architectures for the financial sector

Course contents

The course focuses on the main methodologies and information technologies applied to financial services and institutions. In particular:

  • financial services and applications
  • introduction to the main IT systems to support financial services
  • big data
  • data analysis: introduction to data mining and machine learning techniques
  • introduction to the security of computer systems
  • blockchain and cryptocurrencies
