Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing theoretical, methodological and practical tools for understanding and acting in the socio-educational field of migration, equity and cultural diversity in schools.

Course contents

The course will explore the issues of migration and intercultural coexistence in diverse schools.

In particular, following topics will be explored:

- Presence students of foreign background in schools and analysis of their unerachieving

- Redefinition of the concept of citizenship and educational implications

- The notion of ethnic identity. Stereotypes and prejudices

- Discrimination and racism

- Models of inclusion. Critical comparison between the different models in Europe and North America

- Intercultural education and social justice education
