Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give to the students the main knowledge on the relations (structurals and functionals) between plants and humans. In details, students will be able to analyze the potential roles of plant molecules on human health.
Course contents
Use of plants as:
- food
-protection
-ornamental
-industrial use
-drugs
-aromatic plant
In detals will be treated:
Storage proteins: prolammin, albumin, globulin. Plant proteins and allergy.
Nutraceutics. Secondary metabolites. Plant bioremediation.
Molecular techniques for traceability.
Plant extracts: starch, oils, cocco milk, fibers, protein extracts, sugar extracts, gums, mucilages.
Anti-tumour properties of some plant molecules
