Students will obtain critical tools for the understanding of ancient Near Eastern cultures.

Course contents

Archaeology of ancient Near Eastern cultures (advanced).
Relative chronology of the Early Bronze age in the Syro-Mesopotamian area.

Alternative readings in Italian, English, French or German may be indicated upon request.

Teaching methods

Joint seminar during and between classes about the making of a relative stratigraphy for Bronze Age Mesopotamia, also by means of a dedicated web site (only for attending 10/12 CFU students).
