Learning outcomes

Knowledge of good practices in different fields of social health care (at national and European Level). Knowledge of the evolution of Welfare systems, especially in services for adolescents; understanding of main issues related to facilities and staff management; ability to design solutions and interventions based on methodological approaches, theoretical contructs, with a specific focus on user's needs.

Course contents

Policies and strategies of intervention in the field of treatment for addiction disorder.

Overview of the local system compared with the national and European framework.

Analysis of the Cooperation between NGOs and public social-health care system on addiction, focusing on objectives e functioning models. Role of public services and therapeutic communities.

Evolution of the therapeutic community approach and development of this model of intervention.

The welfare system on addiction treament will be apprached in order to provide the students with a more wide understanding of social-educational and social-healt interventions at different level.

Topics

Therapeutic and educational tools on addicted person treatments. Historic evolution since 70's.

Social and health policies on prevention and treatment of addiction.

European framework on on prevention and treatment of addiction.

Basic knowledge of legislation on welfare and addiction treatment.

Comparative analysis of interventions and prvention strategies within European countries.

Definition of outcomes and evaluation of facilities and services.

Welfare on addiction treatment as a general approach to understand welfare approaches.

Communicating objectives, rules, explaining tools and and activities to clients, families, colleagues, professionals and institutional referees.

Communication as preventive activity: strategies and outcomes.

Knowledge of main sources for lifelong learning and self development.

Other topics:

Quality management and accreditation; proximity interventions; multidisciplinary approach; clinical risk management; evaluation of outcomes; good practices in community work and social and health interventions; design of personalized interventions for addicted people; individual design of intervention in relation to significant variables such as age, health, specific weaknesses; harm reduction.

One third of the course may be held in English.

Assessment methods

Report of a good practices.

Short essay on a individual project (rehab, prevention, harm reduction).

Short essay on history and evaolution of therapeutic community approach.
