Course contents

1) Itroduction to the cuneiform writing of ancient Mesopotamia. Elements of the Akkadian (Babylonian) language. Reading, translation and historical-philological comment of royal inscriptions from the time of Hammurabi.

Oral examination. The student will have to read, translate and comment selected passages of the texts read in class. Moreover, he should show his knowledge of the basic elements of the history of Mesopotamia before the Persians.
