Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student: - kwows the basics of physical climatology; -knows the main statistical methods used in climate analysis; - can use the results of both numerical global climate simulations and regional climate models for future climate scenarios evaluation: - acquires abilities in comunication on the subject and becomes familiar with the english terminology used in climatology; - learns how to use scientific literature

Course contents

Earth energy balance.Internal diabatic effects and greenhouse effect. Surface energy balance. Hidrological cycle and evapo-transpiration. Atmospheric general circulation. Oceanic general circulation. Feedbacks in the climatic system. natural forcings and antropogenic focings. Paleoclimate. Milankovitch theory. Fluctuations of the climatic system. identification of antropogenic effects. IPCC: emission scenarios and climate scenarios. Statistical methods for climate data analysis: trends, hypothesis tests, non parametric tests.
