Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student has knowledge in regards to his/her competence concerning the pathophysiology, the semiotics functional and instrumental and clinical general surgery.

Course contents


• Semiotics and Anatomy of the gastrointestinal system

• acute peritonitis / acute abdomen

• Bleeding upper digestive

• Bleeding lower digestive

• Intestinal occlusions

• Acute pancreatitis

• Acute pathology of the gallbladder and biliary tract

• Pneumothorax

• Portal hypertension and esophageal varices.

• Acute Appendicitis

• Peptic ulcer: symptoms, diagnosis, treatment complications: bleeding, perforation, stenosis

• Neoplasms of the stomach

• Benign and malignant liver neoplasms

• Colorectal Neoplasms

• Neoplasms of the pancreas

• Surgery of liver transplants and kidney

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons with discussion of real clinical cases

Assessment methods

Written test with 60 quizzes (with 3- 4 answer choices), time: 60 minutes.

It is possible to take the test two more times in the same session.
