Learning outcomes

The course is set up to guide and improve the student management of the oral hygiene needs of patients with various issues, ranging from the management of the patient with an organ pathology to the patient who presents with a nonspecific pathology at the level of the oral cavity or cranio-facial. In particular, the student is able to: - identify patients with organ diseases and pathology of the oral cavity; - Recognize patients at risk of systemic disease emergency; - Recognize the basic pathology of the dental patient; - Know the basic principles for the management of a medical emergency; - Know the basics for the cross infection control in dentistry; - Work in a small team to carry out dental procedures; - Communicate to the patient the proper conduct of oral hygiene in relation to his health condition.

Course contents

The course is developed on the identification of major systemic diseases with possible repercussions at oral cavity.
The discussion of some clinical cases will also allow the student to understand the peculiar hygiene needs of these patients.
