Admission requirements
Curricular requirements, ascertainment thereof and assessment ofpersonal knowledge.
To benefit from a second-cycle master's degree in Cinema, televisionand multimedia production (class LM 65) thefollowing knowledge and skills are needed:
-a wide-ranging knowledge of history of cinema and audio-visual media against a backdrop of contemporary history;
-basic competence in reading audio-visual texts in a historical andanalytical light;
-awareness of methodological approaches to audio-visual products(texts, production, entertainment) and the theory surrounding them;
-intermediate level English (at least B1) and written/spoken Italian;
-basic ICT skills, including familiarity with the new media and the Internet.
To join the second-cycle degree programme the following access requisites are needed (1) and candidates background knowledge must undergo an assessment (2).
(1) The access requirements are:
A) to have a degree in one of the D.M. 270/04, D.M. 509/99, or Law508/99 Degree Classes or a degree from a previous system, or an equivalent qualification gained abroad.
B) to have gained from one or more of the following subject areas atleast:
- 18 credits in the subject area L-ART/06 Cinema, photography and television;
-5 credits in M-STO/04 Contemporary history;
-6 credits in one or more of the following subject areas:
M-FIL/04 Aesthetics or
M-FIL/05 Philosophy and theory of language or
M-DEA/01 Demo-ethno-anthropology or
SPS/08 Sociology of cultural and communicative processes.
To be admitted to the second-cycle degree programme, graduates wholack these prerequisites will be interviewed by a Committee to ascertain if they have the skills needed for admission to the personal knowledge test.
The Committee, appointed by the Degree Programme Board, will set datesfor interviews to be held between September and December. Dates will be published on the University Portal.
(2) Each candidate is required to undergo a personal knowledge testin the form of an interview with a Committee, which will judge whether they have the above knowledge and skills and decide on their suitability. That decision is a sine qua non for admission to the second-cycle degree programme.
The Committee appointed by the Degree Programme Board will set dates forinterviews, which will be published on the University Portal.
The second-cycle degree programme may decide on a special session for international students and appoint a Committee to check the suitability of their academic background; if the Call for study grant allocation allows time (its deadline is usually in May).
N.B.:
In the case of students who possess qualifications gained abroad, the access requirement (compatibility of qualification with the DegreeClasses mentioned, assessment of CV, credits and proof of learning vis-à-vis the set skills and subject areas, final evaluation) willbe judged by the Degree Programme Board which will examine their CVand decide if candidates need an interview to assess their background knowledge. The interview may be conducted by teleconference.
