Monica Dall'Asta

Monica Dall’Asta is Full Professor of Film and Media Studies at the University of Bologna. Her work has been developing at the intersection of several lines of research, ranging from the history of seriality in film and television to the history of film theories, from feminist film history to the study of transnational circulation of popular media and transmedial culture. She is the author of a volume about early film seriality (Trame spezzate. Archeologia del film seriale, 2009) and the editor of the first collection about women’s work in the Italian film industry during the silent period (Non solo dive. Pioniere del cinema italiano, 2008). She coordinates with Jane Gaines e Radha Vatsal the Women Film Pioneers Project, based at Columbia University. She is the Coordinator of DETECt-Detecting Transcultural Identity in European Popular Crime Narratives (2018-21), a large collaborative project funded by the European Commission in the frame of the Horizon 2020 program.
