Registration of training activities and annual report for the PhD programme

The university, in compliance with ministerial guidelines (AVA3 template), has designed a quality assurance system for doctoral training that conforms to the standards of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

Registration of learning activities in the Record Book

Doctoral training is divided into several activities, measured in doctoral credits, which ensure a balanced distribution between research and training activities.

For the recognition of Doctoral Credits (DCs) related to the learning activities carried out, registration in the PhD students application, in the 'Record Book/Career' section is necessary (access with @unibo.it credentials).

The application includes five categories of training activities:

  • disciplinary or multi-disciplinary training: training courses and seminars 'in the strict sense of the term' on topics related to the PhD programme and the research project (held at Unibo but not only);
  • transferable skills: courses and seminars focusing on soft skills (research methodology, effective writing, dissemination tools, etc.);
  • extra-curricular training: summer and winter schools, conferences and congresses attended as auditors;
  • dissemination: conferences, congresses, workshops, PhD symposia attended as speakers;
  • supplementary teaching and tutorial services: supplementary teaching carried out by PhD students (e.g. assistance in the laboratory) or tutorial services carried out for first and second cycle students (e.g. tutorial services for thesis writing, etc.) in accordance with the University Regulations to assign teaching and tutoring positions.

Please note that for 38th- and 39th-cycle PhD students with a scholarship, there is no obligation to obtain Doctoral Credits, so all activities entered in the application must report 0 credits.

PhD students with a scholarship of the 40th-cycle must enter, for each activity, the number of Doctoral Credits for which recognition is sought by checking the Credit Tables published on the websites of each PhD programme.

The website addresses for each course are available in the additional information section for each PhD overview.

Whoever supervises or coordinates the course validates each activity.

It is possible to enter learning activities carried out during the PhD course and up to the academic year 2024/25 by the time of the college meeting at which the change of year is scheduled.

Annual Report

The Annual Report is a document that PhD students must submit at the end of each year to illustrate the activities carried out, the results achieved and the future prospects of their research, with a view to admission to the following year or to the final exam.

In the PhD student application, in the 'Annual Report' section (access with @unibo.it credentials), the report useful for passing the year or for admission to the final exam must be uploaded and will be approved at the meetings of the academic boards scheduled in the coming months, according to the timetable communicated by each PhD course.
