Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire

A successful learner from this course will be able to: use, compare and develop hydrological models, in particular models for simulating the physical processes that contribute to the formation of the river flows; apply techniques and policies for the management of water resources, in particular reservoirs and water supply systems.

Contenuti

Fundaments of hydrology; spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation; rainfall-runoff modelling: lumped and spatially distributed models, calibration and validation of rainfall-runoff models, uncertainty analysis; generation of synthetic hydrological series; frequency analysis of hydrological extremes; estimation of water resources availability; water quality modelling; drought prevention measures; climate change and water resources.
