Learning outcomes
The course aims at helping the students to acquire the skills needed for analyzing, understanding and using the Chinese language at level A2 of the Common European Framework for Languages.
Course contents
Introduction to writing, to the vowel, consonantal and tonal system of Chinese.
Basic morphosyntactic elements.
- elements of nominal morphology
- quantification: numerals, classifiers and pseudoclassifiers
- personal pronouns, demonstrative and interrogative substitutes
- the plural / singular contrast
- the structural particle de and the nominal phrase
- the temporal deissi
- verbal typologies: copula, existential verbs, activity verbs and motion verbs
- verbal determination, different types of negations
- sentence final particles
- affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences
- adjectival verbs
- the prepositional phrase
- the order of the constituents of the sentence
- theme and comment structures
- series verbs constructions
- sentence final particle le and aspectual le
- modal verbs of possibility, volition and necessity

The test on Chinese linguistics consists of an oral exam, comprising:
- questions on the grammar contents, and
- the translation of sentences from Italian to Chinese.
