Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students will get the basic knowledge and skills concerning the application of methods and tools useful for the design of industrial products. They will be able to assess the impact of their decisions made during the conceptual phase of the design of an industrial product against the quality and market objectives expected by the customers.

Teaching methods

The lectures will be dedicated to the understanding and correct use of methods and tools useful for the design of industrial products and systems.

Exercitations will deal with the development of a project concerning an industrial product, based on the course topics. Projects will be tackled by 4-5-student groups, and will be supervised by the course professors. For this purpose, specific exercitations for project advancement check and review will be arranged.

Assessment methods

The exam consists in a oral evaluation. The students will be asked for present and discuss a project of an industrial product which has been developed in a design group composed by 4 to 5 students. Project discussion will be followed by an oral test (2-3 questions by the two Professors of the two teaching units).
