Annual bus passes at subsidised rates
Sales of discounted season tickets have now closed as funds have been exhausted. The new TPER 2026 season ticket campaign will run from 1 September to 15 December 2026, again subject to availability.
Annual bus passes at a further reduced fare with the Alma Mater call for applications
The Alma Mater call for applications has expired on 25 September 2025 at 15:00.
The Alma Mater call for applications allows 6,500 students to purchase an annual public transport pass for the Bologna urban or extra-urban area with a €100 discount off the reduced rate.
Participation is open to students enrolled in first-cycle, second-cycle and single-cycle degree programmes, with an ISEE of €35,000 or less.
If you apply for the call, wait to find out if your application is successful before purchasing a pass. Otherwise, even if you are selected, you won’t be able to get a refund for what you’ve already paid.
How to purchase the annual passes
To purchase the annual public transport passes, log in to Studenti Online using your University credentials.
Successful applicants may proceed directly, through Studenti Online, to purchase the TPER - Bologna urban and suburban travel pass at the reduced rates no later than 31 March 2026.
The annual public transport pass can be purchased at any time. Bus passes purchased online at a subsidised rate must be collected from the TPER ticket office in Via Marconi 4, Bologna.
If you have an active alias career, you can use the alias name for your pass. Contact the Career Service Alias using the methods listed on the dedicated page to do so.
Subscription activation date
The TPER order summary (which is sent immediately after completing the purchase to the provided e-mail address) includes a QR code that allows you to travel on public transportation right away, without needing to wait for the physical subscription card or for the renewal process to be completed.
Detailed usage instructions will be provided next to the QR code.
This way, you can choose the same day as the purchase as the start date.
Cost of issuing a new TPER card
The issue of a new microchip card entails a charge of 5 euros, to be paid online when you purchase your public transport pass: the 5 euro fee, in this case, will then be added to the amount you will have to pay.
The card is valid for 5 years, during the course of which it can be recharged with new subscriptions (indicating at the time of purchase that you are already in possession of a card and entering its code).

Annual bus passes from €50
The agreement with Start Romagna has currently expired.
It will once again be possible to purchase a personal Start Romagna annual public transport pass at a reduced rate in approximately September 2026.
