Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will have knowledge on the influence of climate change and globalization on vector-borne infections. The students will have knowledge on the Neglected Tropical Diseases according to the WHO classification and will be able to describe the importance of parasitic infections in a globalized world.

Teaching methods
In-class lecture and a seminar from Medicine sans Frontiers staff on the role of humanitarian organization to cope with emerging infectious diseases. Active learning strategies will be applied to promote student engagement, including interactive discussion on case studies, and app-based polls.
Asynchronous learning activities on Virtuale complement classroom teaching and include selected reading materials and multimedia resources. Resources may include reports and updates from international health organizations (e.g., WHO) as well as articles from international news media. The aim is to place the course content within the context of current global public health challenges, including climate change, emerging infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance and global health inequalities.
Assessment methods
In order to pass the exam, attendance of at least 60% of the lessons and active participation in class activities will be required.
Teaching tools
Lectures will be supported by Power Point slides. Lecture notes will be available online at the beginning of each lecture. Students can access learning modules on Virtuale containing: videos, microbiology news, essential reading material.
