Stefania Varani

Associate professor at the University of Bologna from 2018, she carries out her research in the field of Medical Parasitology.

She is currently teaching in several courses at the School of Medicine, University of Bologna, including Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology, Mycology and Parasitology, Diagnosis of tropical infectious diseases.

The research activity focuses on epidemiological aspects, diagnosis and pathogenesis of parasitic infections, in particular human leishmaniasis. 

She is in the steering committee of LeishMan, a network of specialists from 13 European countries aiming to harmonize diagnosis and treatment of leishmaniasis in Europe.
