Associate professor at the University of Bologna from 2018, she carries out her research in the field of Medical Parasitology. Research interests are focused on epidemiological aspects, diagnosis and pathogenesis of protozoan infections. Currently the focus is on epidemiology and diagnosis of Leishmania infection and on the study of new compounds active against this parasitic infection.
Engaged in national and international research projects, she collaborates with various European Institutes and with the University of Mekelle (Ethiopia). Author of 67 publications, including 54 original scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals, 11 reviews in international peer-reviewed journals, and 2 book chapters for international publication.
Local coordinator of the UNIBO project “University corridors for refugees”.
