Course contents

Following a brief introduction, the course will cover aspects of LIS linguistics, as well as an overview of Deaf culture and the history of institutions for the Deaf. The practical component will focus on A1.1-level language acquisition, covering self-introductions, family, home life, hobbies, and daily activities.

Assessment methods

Theoretical interview in Italian and personal presentation in Sign Language. The overall assessment is described as follows: – a failing grade is determined by a lack of knowledge regarding the course's core content, as well as an inadequate specialized vocabulary, an inability to converse in Sign Language, and a lack of independent judgment, analytical skills, argumentation, and ability to communicate the subject matter; – grades of 18–23/30 indicate an acceptable level of performance regarding the assessment criteria; – grades of 24–25/30 indicate a more-than-sufficient level of performance; – grades of 26–27/30 indicate a good level of performance; – grades of 28–30/30 indicate an excellent level of performance, while 30/30 with honors indicates an outstanding level.
