Learning outcomes
Integrated Course: The Integrated Course in CELLULAR MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND GENETICS aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the structural and functional organization of eukaryotic cells, the principles of genetic inheritance, and the molecular mechanisms governing the regulation, analysis, and modulation of both stem and differentiated cell behaviors. Through a combination of theoretical lessons, critical evaluation of scientific literature, and hands-on laboratory training, the course offers a coherent framework linking fundamental concepts to experimental approaches relevant to biomedical research and clinical applications. Learning Activity: By the end of the CELLULAR BIOLOGY AND GENETICS course the student will be able to:- Define the structural components of eukaryotic cells including the membrane, organelles and cytoskeleton. Describe fundamental cellular processes, including cell movement, targeting and trafficking, cell-cell communication, cell cycle, cell division, and apoptosis. Describe the organization of the human genome and stucture and function of human chromosomes. Recognize the pattern of transmission of hereditary characters and exceptions to mendelian inheritance. Identify the types, causes and biological consequences of genetic variation, with due attention to individual, population and sex differences. Discuss the impact of evolution on human genetic traits and disease risk.
