Learning outcomes

Students are familiar with the key concepts, terminology, and tools of Italian linguistics, including those relevant to the teaching of Italian as a second language, and are able to use them to analyse different types of texts.

Course contents

  • The features of contemporary Italian: Vocabulary, Phonetics and Phonology, Inflectional and Lexical Morphology, Syntax and Textuality, Onomastics.
  • The spoken and written varieties of contemporary Italian.

Classroom lectures.

Assessment methods

Oral examination. If many students show up the examination might go on during the following day or days.

Assessment criteria:

  • knowledge of the terms and concepts of the subject
  • ability to produce relevant examples
  • ability to analyze texts based on the knowledge acquired
  • argumentative skills
  • clarity

Artificial Intelligence can be useful for individual study. As for learning assessment, during oral exams, students are obviously expected to answer questions on their own.
