Learning outcomes
Students learn ethnographic research methods. The laboratory focuses on the video analysis of social interaction, including planning data collection, video recording, transcribing and analyzing data.
Course contents
Students will realize a research project based on the video analyses of social interaction, including ordinary/institutional/professional activities.
Students will realize the following research steps:
Data collection planning and ethics of research
Data videorecordings
Collection construction (based on videoclips realization): several instances of the same phenomenon will be chosen.
Data Analysis
Participation is limited to 20 students.
ERASMUS STUDENTS SHOULD CONTACT THE TEACHER TO AGREE ON TIMES AND MODALITIES OF THE EXAM.
Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. It is suggested that they get in touch as soon as possible with the relevant University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en) and with the lecturer in order to seek together the most effective strategies for following the lessons and/or preparing for the examination.
Readings/Bibliography
The main bibliographical references will be communicated during the first encounter and made available on the platform VIRTUALE.
Students will have to read the texts during the first part of the course, before the beginning of the data collection.
Teaching methods
Lectures (first 2 encounters)
Individual and collective work on video data: students will mainly work in group.
Assessment methods

Before the final presentation, each group must deliver the following materials electronically:
the original recordings
the selected clips
the transcriptions of the selected clips
the analysis of the target phenomenon (at least 3/5 occurrences)
the informed consent forms signed by all the participants (also in paper format)
