Corso:
Second cycle degree programme (LM) in
Advanced Automotive Engineering (cod. 9239)
Also valid for Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Mechanical Engineering (cod. 6721)
Learning outcomes
The students will learn how to choose the best production processes for lightweight and advanced metal, polymer and composite material. They will learn how to prepare and optimize efficient manufacturing cycles, as well as how to ensure that those technologies are compatible with the planned requirements of final products. To emphasize the impact of manufacturing process parameters on product performance, case studies, laboratory and industry applications will be examined. For process development and optimization, software tools (such as FEM and CAE) will be introduced.

Teaching methods
Powerpoint presentations, slides and insights on the blackboard.
Exercises and discussion of industrial cases
Assessment methods
For the Part 1 (Metal materials) the assessment consists is the presentation of a case study optimized using FLOW3D.
For the Part 2 (Composite materials): Written test with open questions and quiz.
The final mark is the average of the marks obtained in the 2 parts.
WORKING STUDENTS
For each examination session, students who have obtained working student status may request an alternative examination date in place of one of the regular examination dates scheduled for that session. Students must contact the lecturer at least 14 days before the first examination date of the session so that a common alternative date can be arranged for all eligible requests.
STUDENTS WITH SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES (SLD) OR TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT DISABILITIES
Students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) or temporary or permanent disabilities are encouraged to contact the University's dedicated support service well in advance: https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it . The service will propose any appropriate accommodations, which must be submitted to the course lecturer at least 15 days before the examination for approval. The lecturer will assess the appropriateness of the requested accommodations in relation to the learning outcomes of the course.
