Course contents
Educating through Heritage for Active Citizenship
Bologna and the Places of History
In the history of every community there are places and moments so full of meanings and values that they constitute the references and identity elements in which everyone can recognise themselves. These are places and events that, having had or having taken on an emblematic value, radiate their significance far beyond their spatial and temporal context, becoming the permanent symbols and gestures of a common belonging; and that have built our identity, renewing and redefining it.
Getting to know the places of Bologna through its material and immaterial heritage in order to activate active citizenship education proposals.
Starting from direct and indirect sources, the faces of the city will be investigated with guided tours and itinerant in-depth studies of the places of culture in order to learn about and design paths for the protection and enhancement of heritage assets.
At the end of the workshop the student: - is able to move autonomously in applying the specific techniques learnt independently or within projects organised by the institutions; - is able to compare with others on how to use and document the techniques learnt; - is able to place the specific knowledge learnt in different types of service; - is able to assess the limits and merits of the technical tools learnt; - is able to transfer the technologies learnt into different contexts by making personal modifications and additions.
