Course contents
The workshop addresses the issue of children’s and adolescents’ participation in relation to Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which recognizes children’s right to be heard, their ability to form their own views, to express them freely, and to have those views taken into due consideration.
Through opportunities for discussion and experiential activities, the workshop will provide tools, techniques, and approaches for designing and facilitating educational activities aimed at promoting children’s active participation as a right, a process, a practice, and a form of engagement. Particular attention will be given to initiatives that recognize the agency and involvement of children and young people as authors and/or co-constructors of their own living environments. Special guests in the first session will be two adolescents representing the Venezuelan movements of working children, who will present the perspective of their organization.
Participation in the workshop requires a willingness to engage personally, reflect critically, and experiment with educational practices.
