Course contents

This course introduces key concepts in the functioning of contemporary mass communication, with particular attention to their relevance in digital media and their potential applications in medical and scientific communication. Special focus will be given to the concepts of simplification, polarization, and storytelling, examining both the reasons for the effectiveness of their application, and the risks they entail.

Teaching methods

Concrete cases and examples drawn from mass communication and medical-scientific dissemination will be presented.

Assessment methods

The course will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. To obtain a “pass”, students are required to actively participate in class and attend more than 66% of the scheduled sessions.
