I was a pupil of Umberto Eco, with whom I graduated in Philosophy and went on to complete my PhD and postdoctoral research in Semiotics.
Since 2016, I have been Full Professor of Philosophy and Theory of Languages at the University of Bologna, where I teach Semiotics and Storytelling and Semiotics of Digital Innovation for the Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences, Semiotics of Digital Media for the Master’s degree in Semiotics and the Master’s degree in Information, Cultures and Media Organisation (Incom).
I direct the Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Digital Media and the Master’s degree in Communication, Management and New Media, both at the University of San Marino in cooperation with the University of Bologna.
My research areas include digital innovation, political communication, consumption, and commercial advertising.
Since 2008, I have also carried out outreach and public engagement activities through my personal blog, as a contributor to the national newspaper il Fatto Quotidiano, as well as via social media.
