Course contents

Acquire the tools and skills to set up effective foreign language teaching, in line with the CECRL (Cadre Européen Commun de Référence des Langues) and the ‘Volume complémentaire’ (https://rm.coe.int/cecr-volume-complementaire-avec-de-nouveaux-descripteurs/16807875d5)

Know how to construct a ‘Référentiel’ of competences, at the service of foreign language teaching.

Knowing how to propose cohesive didactic paths, consistent with the competences to be achieved, also considering differentiated learning styles and strategies.

Know how to critically analyze manuals/textbooks for foreign language teaching.

Being able to develop a simulated lesson on a given topic, respecting the methodologies and guidelines that will be illustrated during the course.

Teaching methods

The teaching activity will be organized both through practical activities and critical analysis of documents (corpus prepared by the lecturer and available on Virtuale from the first lessons).

Part of the course will be dedicated to the linguistic reinforcement of the French language, in order to reach a C2 level of the CFR.

Assessment methods

The examination consists of preparing a simulated lesson for the teaching of Italian to French-speaking learners, on a topic, according to the methodologies and guidelines illustrated during the course.

Examination duration: 3 hours.

The following will be assessed:

1) Cohesion and coherence of the lesson;

2) Adherence of the proposed activities with the methodology and approach illustrated during the course;

3) Adherence of the proposed activities to the CFR descriptors and the competences to be achieved;

4) Assessment of the TTT (Teacher Talking Time) dimension, as well as of the concepts of interaction and cooperation between learners, ‘étayage’ and peer mediation;

5) Use of multimedia supports.

The use of a monolingual dictionary is permitted. Its use is recommended during the course.
