69540 - Portoguese Language and Culture

Course contents

This course belongs to the III year and will be done on the I semester (40h), with obbligatory assistance and final evaluation.

The main aim of this course is to broaden, deepen and develop some specific and practical aspects of language, especially with regard to the vocabulary, spelling, phonetics, phonology, syntax and morphology as typical structures of Portuguese, together the conclusion of the study of advanced grammar. The student will have to know all the grammatical structures sufficient for understanding and production of texts, which are also necessary for the oral expression, and for the translation of short texts from and into Portuguese.

Through practical exercises written and oral grammar structures to be studied are:

- passive form;

- indirect speech;

- Verbs: Modo Indicativo: Condizionale semplice e composto;Futuro Imperfeito;

- Infinitivo Pessoal Simples e Composto;

- Modo congiuntivo: tempi semplici;

- Gerúndio Semplice e Composto:

- Tonic and graphic accent;

- The punctuation;

- emphatic and idiomatic expressions.

Personal lessons, several exercises in class and as homework.

Assessment methods

Final examination of the course:

Final written and oral examination.

The final written examination in the two courses will be composed by one text with comprehension questions; several grammatical exercises to fill, change or multiple choice; one composition.

The oral examination will be composed by an interview in portuguese with the teacher.
