Course contents

Facts & Fictions: The (cultural) history of Germany from 1933 till the unification

The course is aimed at examining a series of political, cultural and literary aspects of Germany which will permit the students to understand some significant aspects of the politics, culture and literature of Germany from 1933 to the present: the Second World War, the post-war period, the building of the Wall of Berlin, the free speech movement, the question of immigration, the German reunification, film industry, literary tendencies

Readings/Bibliography

The essays and texts that students have to read, will be uploaded on the Moodle plattform. Students have to prepare every week a new topic.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons in the classroom, group discussions (papers to present to the class)

Assessment methods

The final oral exam will deal with the readings and themes discussed during the course.
