Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will be aware of both past history and methods of restoration and will be able to recognize interventions of restoration occurred in the past and to have a critical approach to the science of preservation. Moreover, the student can interact with other professionalities involved both in avanced and routine interventions of conservation

Course contents

The course will be dedicated to the history of preservation, through the analysis of sample cases relevant to 'antiquaria', and to the critical approach to facts of modern restoration, with particular regards to the maintenance practices and programming needs

Teaching methods

Lectures will be complemented by visists to museums and art galleries, restauration laboratory. An educational travel will complete the course.

Assessment methods

The exam will consist in an interwiew in order to check the understanding of the topics disccussed in the lectures and the texts in program by the student.
