Learning outcomes
Students know and can use the basic techniques of conference interpreting (consecutive and simultaneous interpreting) from Russian into Italian in a wide range of professional settings.
Course contents
Russian-Italian contrastive analysis for Interpreting.
Enhancing documentation skills and terminological work.
Enhancing note-taking for consecutive interpreting.
Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting in specialty fields, such as macroeconomics, energy policy, environment and ecology, social themes, education and latest news.

Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting exercises with authentic texts taken from conferences.
Drawing up of specialised glossaries.
Assessment methods
The aim of the final exam is to test the complete aquisition of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting techniques between Russian and Italian.
The exam is composed by:
- 5-8 minutes consecutive interpreting from Russian into Italian
- 10-13 minutes simultaneous interpreting froma Russian into Italian.
The exam will concern Russian area topics and latest news.
Teaching tools
Audio/videotaped speeches, authentic conference speeches and documentation (for example, ppt presentations). Students will also interpret seminar or conferences held by Russian speaking scholars.
Consecutive interpreting sessions will be held in videoconference (Virtual Classes) with the interpreters of the University of Astrachan and with DG Interpretation of the European Commission and of the European Parliament.
