Course contents

Introduction to Psychology. Brief overview of the anatomy of the central and peripheral nervous system. Methods and techniques for investigating the cognitive functions.
Selective attention and change blindness and their practical aspects in the work environment. Sleep and cognitive deficits during sleep deprivation. Persistent vegetative state: recent data that shed light on how to approach patients with this diagnosis. Emotions.  Face perception and non verbal communication.
Stress and burn-out in the work environment.

Teaching methods

Lectures with direct involvement of the students in discussing issues related to the topics covered in class.
