Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to present the basic elements of the European integration prosess, which cover the institutions and their functions, the sources of the European Law, the relationship between the European Law and the National Law, the European citizenship and the free movements within the internal market. At the completion of the course the student will have acquired a firm standing of the functions of the European legal system, comprising the basic mechanisms of the functions of the EU system and have the capacity to identify the fundamental principles of the single European market.

Course contents

The European integration process; the European Union Institutions, their functions, their powers and their acts; the relationship between the European Union law and the national law; the EU citizenship and the protection of fundamental rights; the single market; the freedom of movement (goods, persons, services and capital), the competition policy, the economic and monetary policy, the European Stability Mechanism.

Oral exam designed to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student during the course and the critical analysis developed by the studying of case law.

Teaching tools

Lectures will be supported by the presentation of slides throgh the use of the projector and the PC.
