35194 - Infrastructure and Landscape Architecture M

Academic Year 2012/2013

  • Teaching Mode: In-person learning (entirely or partially)
  • Campus: Ravenna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Building and Urban Systems (cod. 0941)

Learning outcomes

The course provides the basic elements for the protection and enhancement of the landscape, according to European and national legislation.
In particular, it examines the relationship between landscape and infrastructure and the role they can play as a new officer as part of the land forms. There will be design exercises.

Course contents

In the first module of the course, we will discuss the objective character of the landscape in the climatic and geographical component, integrated with the subjective perception of the so-called "historical-cultural landscape". The second module will cover the deepening of the issues and elements of the critical issues that networks and infrastructure assets artifacts (waste disposal, soil conservation, mobility and telecommunications) or abandoned (military infrastructure, obsolete industrial areas) working in the area.Their physical form historical and modern today form a large part of the contemporary landscape and the so-called "Third landscape", the "Greyfield land", which is the result of uncontrolled de change and the failure to use the tools of spatial planning.
The third module explores the concept of resilience of local anthropogenic and their response to disasters of natural origin or caused by mismanagement of natural resources (extraction of gas, water, quarries, mines, etc..). We then develop the concepts of sustainability and management of infrastructure and facilities built residential and productive.

Teaching methods

A series of seminar is planned to assess the learning and working-out of design. The final study will be based on the reworking and systematization of aspects progressively dealt with during the Laboratory. The individual final check will consist in a discussion of project works produced during the Lab and it will include the discussion both of the main theoretical issues involved by the theme assigned and the topics dealt with during the Laboratory.

Teaching tools

The regular presence of the students at the Course is required, to allow an efficient management of the work progression in each phase of the analisis. The Faculty library is a useful support for specific documentation and for in-depth studies. Faculty equipments will be used (overhead projectors, videoprojectors, data carriers).
