Bologna City Run 2026: 5 km together to support research at the University of Bologna
The University of Bologna is an official partner of the Termal Bologna Marathon, which this year is dedicated to “Bologna la Dotta”. Among this year’s initiatives is a non-competitive race open to everyone, aimed at supporting the University’s research activities across a wide range of strategic areas, all geared towards creating new perspectives for the future.

How did Italy’s Medieval “Economic Boom” begin?
Led by Lorenzo Tabarrini, a researcher at the Department of History and Cultures of the University of Bologna, the new ERC project RaESETfides will attempt to shed light on one of the unresolved mysteries of the Middle Ages: the sudden economic and commercial success of central and northern Italian cities at the dawn of the 13th century.

Thanks to the first computerised tomography scanner in Italy used exclusively for research, the three fossil specimens were analysed to explore their internal and external morphology and to investigate their original contents and shell structure.

According to an analysis of more than one hundred thousand university exams, an international team of researchers has shown that the moment in which students achieve the best results is around 12 p.m. This trend may be explained by the physiological rhythms that regulate cognitive abilities and mental fatigue.
